Pune: Highly educated man suspects wife’s character, stages her murder, arrested (Video)
Pune: A well-educated man who got married seven months ago, suspected the character of his wife and brutally murdered her. Later, he staged her murder.
However, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Pune Rural Police investigated the case and arrested the accused. The man, who lodged a complaint about his wife’s murder, turned out to be the accused.
The body of Shital Swapnil Ranpise was found at her house on Wednesday (July 3) afternoon. She was strangled to death and was also electrocuted. Shital’s husband Swapnil Shyamrao Ranpise (26), a resident of Ranjangaon Sandus, Shirur, lodged a complaint at the Shirur police station that she was killed by an unidentified person when she was alone at home. Accordingly, the police registered a case against an unidentified person.
Taking serious note of the murder, Superintendent of Police (SP) Pankaj Deshmukh instructed the LCB to conduct a parallel investigation. The investigation team inspected the house and surroundings of the married woman and inquired with neighbours. Since some belongings were lying scattered in the house, the police also investigated whether a motive of theft was behind the murder. Meanwhile, the police questioned her husband. He narrated different stories.
The police suspected his role and detained him. During interrogation, he confessed to killing his wife. They used to quarrel frequently as he used to ask her frequently about her past life.
The accused is a science graduate and holds an MBA degree too. He was produced before the court, which remanded him to police custody till July 10. The Shirur police are investigating further.
