Pune: Samrat Ashok Club and Resorts director Ashok Khivansara has been booked for buying land by furnishing a letter of guarantee in the name of a woman, who died 10 years ago. On this basis, he took the power of attorney (POA) and conducted the sale deed and indulged in cheating.

Sub Registrar Bapu Jamdade lodged a complaint against Ashok Misrilal Khivansara, a resident of Pune, at the Lonavala City Police Station.

According to the police, the POA for the 4-hectare land at Gat No. 133/2 at Varsoli was given to Samrat Ashok Club and Resorts director Ashok Misrilal Khivansara by POA-holders Prakash Sampatkumar Dugad and Ashok Misrilal Khivansara on behalf of Satyavati Baijnath Gupta, Shilawati Vadharam Gupta and Brijrani Ramprasad Gupta. The document was registered on December 1, 2007.

Nisha Prakash Rakhiyani, a resident of Pimpri and the POA-holder on behalf of Suresh Mangilal Jain, submitted a complaint application to the Sub-Registrar’s office, Lonavala.

The Sub Registrar sent notices to all concerned and asked to present their respective side. The Sub Registrar Office launched an inquiry after it found that Khivansara’s side had some laxities. Shilawat Vadharam Gupta died on November 13, 1997 in Mumbai. Apparently, a fake letter of guarantee was signed in her name 10 years after her death.

The Lonavala Police are investigating the matter after a complaint has been lodged as per the directives of the District Registrar.
