Nashik Phata-Khed elevated Corridor

Pune: The Central Government has approved the 30-km long, 8-lane Nashik-Phata-Khed elevated corridor. An allocation of Rs 7,827 cr has been made for the project. It will connect major economic centres such as Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Chakan.

The corridor will be a high-connectivity road for vehicles visiting industrial centres such as Chakan, Bhosari on the Pune-Nashik National Highway-60. The elevated corridor will ease traffic issues around Chinchwad. The existing road will be upgraded to 4/6, along with the two-lane service roads on both sides of the stretch from Pimpri-Nashik Phata to Khed. Moreover, an 8-lane flyover will be built.

Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari made a post on his X handle: ‘The Cabinet Ministry headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the 30-km long, 8-lane, Rs 7,827-crore elevated Nashik Phata-Khed Corridor. It will connect economic centres such as Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Chakan. The logistics capacity of the area will increase’.

Gadkari added: ‘A major hurdle in the development of the Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Chakan areas will be removed with this project. Logistics capacities of the automobile sector and other industries will go up. Transport expenditure will reduce and it will help reduce traffic congestion and pollution. The corridor will provide connectivity to the mega food park, textile clusters, SEZ, pharma and medical clusters, the electronic manufacturing centre, along with 10 economic nodes. It includes nine junctions and two big bridges for smooth transport’.
