Puneite engineer dies in America
Pune: An engineer hailing from Pune, Siddhant Patil, died in the USA. He drowned in a water body at the Glacier National Park, Montana. A rescue team recovered his body after four weeks.
This was reported by a leading national English daily. The Patil family from Pune said that the American officials communicated to them that his body was recovered.
Siddhant, along with his six friends, was visiting the Rocky Mountain Park on July 6 when he fell into a lake. Siddhant was living in San Jose and was working as an engineer in a private company.
Glacier Park officials, in a release on Sunday, said, “Rangers have recovered the body of Siddhanth Vitthal Patil after a search operation of four weeks.” His friends said that his clothes and the gear he was wearing were seized. A person reported to the police that a body was lying at the foothills. The rangers immediately visited the spot and inspected the body and found that it was Siddhant Patil.
His family was hoping that he would be alive. His uncle Pritesh Chawdhary told the English daily on July 14 that they hoped to find Siddhant alive. He said that miracles happen and they were waiting for one to take place. His family members said that Siddhant called up his mother from the park and told her that he was visiting the park, along with his six Indian friends, for three days and was enjoying the trip.
Three hours before the accident, he messaged his mother saying that he would return to San Jose after three days. He was the only child of his parents. He was staying in the US for the past four years. He completed his MS from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His father is a retired government employee while his mother is a housewife.
