Palghar: In a significant operation, the Anti-Corruption Department of Mumbai has arrested Sanjeev Jadhavar, the Deputy Collector of the General Administration Department at the Palghar Collectorate, after he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

Sanjeev Jadhavar, who had recently been transferred from Ratnagiri district to Rajapur in Palghar, was allegedly seeking a one-year extension in his position. Despite his transfer, he continued to operate from Palghar.

The arrest took place after a tribal complainant approached the authorities. The complainant, seeking approval for a land transaction in Wada for a tribal account holder, was asked for a bribe of Rs 50,000 by Deputy Collector Sanjeev Jadhavar, despite having completed all the necessary legal procedures.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant reported the matter to the Anti-Corruption Department in Mumbai. Following the complaint, the department set a trap in Sanjeev Jadhavar’s office. On Tuesday afternoon, shortly after concluding a press conference with the Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, Sanjeev Jadhavar was apprehended in his office while accepting the bribe.

The process of filing a case against Sanjeev Jadhavar continued late into the evening, causing a stir within the collector’s office.
