Sharad Pawar refutes Ajit Pawar’s allegation that he broke the family
Baramati: NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar on Tuesday (October 29) mimicked Ajit Pawar’s wiping of tears in a rally in Baramati, where the latter alleged that the former broke their family. Sharad Pawar refuted the claim that he split the family.
Sharad Pawar said, “We have fielded Yugendra. Voters should elect the new generation. I took the responsibility of a mentor and handed over the party to the new generation then. But some of us left the party for power. They woke up the Governor early in the morning. Why did they do this?
“I made many people ministers, gave many others posts. Have I ever given any post to Supriya? She also never demanded one. Because we wanted to protect the family unity. You (Ajit) would have got the post after four months. But since you did not get it, you broke the family. It is not in my nature to break the family.
“I founded the NCP. I was dragged to court over the ownership of the party. The court issued a summons against me. Till then, I never got any summons in my life. I never entered the court in my life. The court decided that the party and the symbol belonged to them and not to me. We were given a new symbol and we won.
Ajit Pawar’s allegation
Addressing a rally in Baramati earlier, Ajit Pawar said, “My mother told other family members that no one should contest the election against Dada. A senior member (Sharad Pawar) in the family should have also said the same thing. Should I say now that ‘Saheb’ told him (Yugendra) to file the nomination form, which means Saheb broke Tatyasaheb’s (my father’s) family?”
While saying this, Ajit Pawar’s eyes welled up.
