Attack On Chandrakant Tingre

Pune:

With just a few hours left for voting, a shocking incident has transpired in the Vadgaon Sheri assembly constituency, where the husband of former corporator Rekha Tingre, who recently joined the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) and supported candidate Bapusaheb Pathare from Vadgaon Sheri, was attacked in broad daylight by unknown persons. The glass of his car was broken by stones, injuring Chandrakant Tingre. This incident has created a huge panic in the city.

This incident took place around 2:30 pm in the Dhanori Toll Plaza area of Vishrantwadi. Chandrakant Tingre is the husband of former corporator Rekha Tingre. He had joined the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar group) last week. He joined the party in the presence of Sharad Pawar and started campaigning for the NCP (SP) Vadgaon Sheri candidate Bapusaheb Tukaram Pathare.

Meanwhile, after election campaigning was stopped yesterday at 5 p.m., candidates and party workers were focusing on personal meetings with voters and campaigning. Today, Chandrakant Tingre and his driver Sachin Gaikwad had gone to the MSEB office in the afternoon. They parked their car, and as they were getting out of their car, a few unidentified men on a bike first pelted stones at their car from behind.

When the car driver got out of the car and went behind, the unknown individuals started pelting cement stones on the car’s window from the front side. In this stone-pelting, Chandrakant Tingre got injured. Learning of the incident, police immediately rushed to the spot and inspected the area. However, after this, the atmosphere in the Vadgaon Sheri has become politically charged.
