Pune: Special train for ColdPlay but no bus service for India vs England T20 match at Gahunje
Pune: A T20 series is being played between India and England. A match in the series will be played at the Gahunje stadium. The MCA is preparing to provide all necessary facilities.
However, spectators will not get any public transport facility to reach the stadium. It seems they will face hardships after reaching the venue due to a narrow approach road. This has been underlined by the MCA.
Special train for ColdPlay, no bus service for T20
The ColdPlay concert was recently held at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, for which a special local train ran for the Mumbaiites from Goregaon to Nerul. When the MCA was asked if a special bus would be provided for the T20 match at Gahunje on January 31, they expressed their inability.
MCA President Rohit Pawar said, “We have studied the issue. A bus service is needed from Pune to Gahunje stadium. We tried to arrange it at the time of World Cup Cricket last year too. However, the approach road is so narrow that if a bus takes a U-turn, the entire road would be blocked. That is the main problem. We are currently widening the road.”
What are the options?
The stadium is 30 km away from Pune. There is no public transport available to reach the match venue. Therefore, fans will have to use their private vehicles to reach the stadium. However, there is not enough parking space in the area to accommodate so many vehicles. Many vehicles will be parked along the narrow road. Snarls will also happen.
Rohit Pawar gave details about this in a press meet at the MCA head office in the city. He said that providing PMPML buses would not be possible.
Abundant drinking water available
MCA Secretary Kamlesh Misal said that steps were taken to supply drinking water at the stadium. Last year, spectators suffered water shortage during the match between India and New Zealand. The forthcoming T20 match will be played in the evening. So, water consumption will not be much. Still, water will be distributed for free at the venue.”
