Another Deceptive Marriage Promise Case in Pune; 32-Year-Old Woman Was Cheated with Fraudulent Marriage Promise

Recently, a distressing incident had come to light from Pune, where a doctor girl ended her life by committing suicide after she was cheated by an individual, who gave a fake marriage promise and duped her of Rs 10 lakh. While that incident was fresh, a similar incident took place in Pune.
In the latest incident, a 32-year-old woman fell prey to such fraud, where a 40-year-old individual got physical with her, alluring her with a fake marriage promise. Shockingly, the accused hid his first marriage from the woman and did a fake engagement with her to gained her trust.
In this regard, the concerned woman has filed a police complaint at Shivaji Nagar Police Station. Accordingly, the police have registered a case against the accused from Aurangabad. The incident took place between April 2019 and January 16, 2024.
Police informed that the accused worked in a private company. In 2019, he met with the plaintiff during the election work. After that, the friendship between them grew, and the accused called the plaintiff and assured her a job. After that, the accused told her that he liked her and asked her for marriage. After her parent’s permission, the plaintiff conveyed her readiness to marry him.
Following that, the accused forcefully maintained physical relations with the girl in hotel and did fake engagement with her. He also introduced the complainant as his wife in his office. However, when the complainant asked him about the marriage, he brazenly assaulted her. When the plaintiff informed this to the accused’s brother, he told her that the accused had already been married and his wife was pregnant.
When the plaintiff confronted the accused about it, the accused threatened to kill her. After that, the woman lodged a complaint against the accused. Shivajinagar police have registered a case, and the Assistant Police Inspector Savita Sapkale is conducting further investigation in this case.
