Pune: Vasant More breaks security cabin at Swargate bus stand protesting against rape incident (Video)
Pune: The Shiv Sena (UBT) has taken an aggressive stand over the rape of a 26-year-old woman at the Swargate bus stand. Party leader and former corporator Vasant More, along with Shiv sainiks entered the Swargate bus stand and broke the security cabin on its premises.
More alleged that hundreds of condoms were scattered around the security cabin, indicating rapes happening on its premises daily. He sought to know the purpose behind setting up the cabin.
More said, “Security guards are responsible for the rape incident. It is said that 20 security guards have been deployed on the premises. Therefore, it is clear that these guards were involved in the incident.”
Rapes in connivance with security guards
More said, “What do security guards do? Several condoms were seen in the broken-down Shiv Shahi bus. Sarees, inner wear, empty liquor bottles and bed sheets were found in the bus. This indicated that such incidents happen with the approval of security guards. They themselves are involved in them. One has to cross the security cabin to enter the broken-down buses. Still such incidents happen?”
What is the depot manager, minister’s responsibility?
Vasant More said, “When there are so many security guards and the area is surrounded by a security wall, how can rapes happen? The depot manager does not know these things. Action should be taken against the depot manager and the security guards.”
He alleged that ST buses were not safe to travel for women.
The woman was raped in a Shivshahi bus at the Swargate bus stand in the wee hours on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Dattatraya Gade, who is a history-sheeter.
