Pune: Mahalaxmi Mavericks, Vishrambaug Nights, Gajar Supernovas, Dagdusheth Warriors, Samarth Challengers, NuMaVi Stallions, Rangari Royals and Nadbrahma Sarvavadak registered victories on the third day on Thursday (March 6) of the Fourth ‘Friendship Trophy’ Cricket Championship Tournament organised by Punit Balan Group (PBG) for teams represented by city-based Ganpati mandals, Navratra mandals and Dhol-Tasha pathaks.
These matches are being played at the LR Shinde High School Ground in Sahakar Nagar. Rangari Royals defeated Jogeshwari Jaguars without loss of a wicket following flawless performances by Nilesh S and team bowlers. Gajar Supernovas had an easy win by eight wickets over HTM Tigers. Shubham Balkawade’s knock of 59 proved crucial in their win.
Dagdusheth Warriors won by nine runs against Nadbrahma Drummers due to their all-rounder Kapil Raut, who scored 65 runs and took three wickets by conceding only five runs. NuMaVi Stallions defeated Kasba Super Kings by 69 runs. Yogesh Khalgaonkar’s 61 runs helped the former to march ahead in the competition.
Mahalaxmi Mavericks recorded their second victory without losing a wicket in the tournament by trouncing Bhagat Singh Legends on the basis of Vivek Jambhulkar’s unbeaten 36 runs and their bowlers’ hard work. Vishrambaug Nights defeated Janardan Giants by four runs. Atish Gade’s unbeaten knock of 84 runs laid the foundation of the victory. It rained runs as both teams scored 230 runs. Janardan Giants’ Shubham Ingle’s single-handed fight (84 runs) proved futile for his team.
Nadbrahma Sarvavadak sailed through against Nadbrahma Drummers due to Swapnil Ghate’s sharp bowling attack. The former won by eight wickets. Samarth Challengers easily decimated Garud Strikers by 33 runs. Mac Pardeshi’s bowling and Sagar Indulkar’s batting came to the former’s rescue.
