Shocking Incident in Pune: 27-Year-Old Bhutanese Woman Gang-Raped by 7 Men; Police Take Swift Action

Pune: A disturbing case has come to light in Pune, where a 27-year-old woman from Bhutan, currently residing in the city, was allegedly gang-raped by seven men. Following her complaint at the Samarth Police Station, police have arrested all seven accused involved in the incident.

The main accused, Shantanu Kukde, already has two previous sexual assault cases filed against him involving other women. In this case, Rishikesh Navale, Jalindar Badde, Umesh Shahane, Pratik Shinde, Advocate Vipin Bidkar, Sagar Rasge, Avinash Suryavanshi, and Mudasin Menon have also been booked under charges of sexual assault.

The victim has been living in India since 2020, initially residing in Bodh Gaya before moving to Pune for education and employment. She became acquainted with Rishikesh Navale, who later introduced her to Shantanu Kukde. Kukde offered her financial assistance for her education and accommodation, gaining her trust, which he allegedly exploited to commit sexual assault.

Kukde later introduced the woman to his friends, and under the pretense of social gatherings and parties, took her to various locations including Lonavala, Raigad, and Panshet, where the assaults reportedly continued. Among the accused, one is a DJ and another is a lawyer.

All seven accused have been arrested and have been remanded to police custody by the court. The case has sent shockwaves across Pune, raising serious concerns over women’s safety in the city.
