Pune: The State Assembly election results will be declared on Saturday (November 23). Supporters of various State leaders have become impatient and have started displaying banners congratulating them for winning the election and becoming ministers.

Funny, but true! One such NCP (AP) leader from the city raised a banner congratulating Ajit Pawar for becoming the Chief Minister. It is said that such billboards were installed at several other places too. But they were removed immediately afterwards.

It was learnt that NCP (AP) leader Santosh Nangre set up these banners in Market Yard area. The banners proclaimed ‘Vikasacha vada Ajit Dada’ (Ajit Dada for promise of development) and ‘Mukhyamantri Namdar Ajitdada Pawar prachand bahumatane vijai zalyabaddal Hardik abhinandan’. Political circles were abuzz with discussions on the banners. However, they were removed soon after.

The Maha Yuti has not declared its Chief Minister’s face. However, some hours ahead of the results NCP (AP) leaders have started putting up billboards declaring their leader as the Chief Minister.

Posts about these banners have gone viral on social media. But they were brought down immediately, giving rise to discussions in political circles.

Results will be out on November 23

There was an intense tussle between the two major alliances in the State. The Maha Yuti and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) campaigned hard to attract votes. The former drummed up support based on the Ladki Bahin Yojana and schemes launched for farmers. The MVA highlighted inflation, farmers’ issues and other problems, besides announcing new schemes.

The percentage of voting increased in the elections. It was 65.11 pc at 6 pm on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see how the hiked votes would impact the results.
