Pune: The BJP may receive a big jolt in western Maharashtra. Sources said that BJP leader and State Minister Harshvardhan Patil would join the NCP (SP). The meeting between Patil and DyCM Devendra Fadnavis did not yield any positive outcome.
NCP (AP) President Sharad Pawar has dealt a big blow to the BJP. There were discussions for the past few weeks that Harshvardhan Patil would cross over to the NCP (SP). The sources confirmed that he would formally join the NCP (SP) in a couple of days in Pune.
Patil has finally decided to say goodbye to the BJP. His workers raised slogans hailing him in Indapur after learning about his decision. They celebrated after getting indications that Patil would join the NCP (SP).
Patil had left the Congress and joined the BJP. After Ajit Pawar joined the Maha Yuti, equations changed. The sitting Indapur MLA, Dattatraya Bharne, is from the NCP (AP). His candidature in the State poll is almost confirmed from the Maha Yuti. Therefore, Patil could not contest from the Maha Yuti.
Patil wanted to contest from the Indapur Assembly seat. This has heated up the political atmosphere in the segment. The picture will be clear in a few days.
