Amol Balwadkar Foundation organises annual Raksha Bandhan function, 8,000 women participate

Pune: The Amol Balwadkar Foundation celebrated Raksha Bandhan to preserve the strong brother-sister bond. Thousands of women attended the programme on Sunday.

Women folk look up to former corporator Amol Balwadkar as their brother. Women thronged to preserve their bond with their brother. Raksha Bandhan, the festival of love between brothers and sisters, was celebrated at the community level and became the talk of the town in Kothrud.

The function organised by the Amol Balwadkar Foundation was held at Sanjay Farm, Dasara Chowk, Balewadi. Cultural programmes were held on the occasion.

The Amol Balwadkar Foundation holds various programmes annually. Raksha Bandhan is one such function, which was held on Sunday. Over 8,000 women took part by performing Aarti of their beloved brother, Amol Balwadkar, and tied Rakhis around his wrist. Amol Balwadkar reciprocated by enquiring about their wellbeing. He ensured the women that he would stand behind them firmly.

During the annual Raksha Bandhan function, gifts are distributed to women, which symbolises Amol Balwadkar’s resolve to make them feel confident that their brother will always be there to take care of them. Women not just tie a Rakhi but reaffirm their trust in him.

Festivals celebrated in Shravan such as Raksha Bandhan strengthen our bonds with each other. This uplifts us as a society. I will always try to live up to this tradition of exchanging joy and love.”
