The Prime Accused of Pune ISIS Terrorism Module Detained by the NIA from Delhi

Pune: A few months ago, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested ISIS terrorists who were preparing to carry out bomb blasts in important cities such as Pune, Mumbai, and cities in Gujarat from Pune. After that, it was revealed that these terrorists received training in making bombs in a building in Kondhwa, Pune.

Subsequently, the NIA conducted more investigations and arrested some other people who were connected with it. Now it has come to light that the threads in this case have reached Delhi. In this regard, the prime accused related to this ISIS module was arrested in Delhi by the NIA team today.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Rizwan Abdul Haji Ali, an important member of the Pune ISIS module, today, August 9. There was a reward of three lakh rupees for Ali. It has come to light that Rizwan Ali is an important accused in this case.

The NIA had issued a warrant for Ali’s arrest. After escaping from the Pune police’s arrest, Ali was trying to avoid being caught. But the Delhi Police finally arrested him in Delhi.

Ali, an original resident of Daryaganj, Delhi, along with other members of the Pune ISIS module, had collected information on several high-profile and important locations in Delhi and Mumbai. The investigation also revealed that these accused were in touch with their overseas handles through secret communication apps. The accused were involved in armed robberies and thefts to raise funds for terrorist activities.

In the investigation conducted by the NIA, police have also seized some weapons from Ali’s possession. Many members of the Pune ISIS module have already been arrested by the Pune Police and NIA.

In July 2023, the National Investigation Agency indicted a total of 11 people in Pune for possessing weapons, explosives, chemicals, and materials related to ISIS. The supplementary charge sheet filed by the NIA in March named Rizwan Ali along with three other accused. All these accused were members of the terrorist organisation ISIS.
