10,170 vehicles have been sold in the city on Gudi Padwa ! 28 pc rise in vehicle sales in Pune

Pune: As many as 10,170 vehicles have been sold in the city on Gudi Padwa, which is one of the most auspicious occasions. They included 6,510 two-wheelers and 2,424 four-wheelers.
The Regional Transport Office (RTO) recorded a 28 pc jump in vehicle registrations as compared to the past two-and-a-half years. Over 2,500 more vehicles were registered this year. In 2024, 7,336 vehicles were sold on Gudi Padwa while in 2023, 7,706 vehicles were registered at the RTO.
People buy properties, gold and vehicles on the four most auspicious occasions, including Gudi Padwa, Akshay Tritiya, Dasara and Diwali Padwa. Bookings are done by firms to avoid rush at the last moment. This year, citizens preferred to buy vehicles, resulting in a record sale. Many customers booked their vehicles a month ago due to a long waiting list and to coincide it with Gudi Padwa.
As many as 10,170 vehicle registrations have been done at the RTO after purchase of vehicles and submission of documents by dealers, said the RTO administration. They said that there was a rise in vehicle purchase this year, in comparison to the past two years.
Customers preferred environment-friendly, low-maintenance electric vehicles and those running on fuels such as CNG. This boosted the sales this year, said the RTO.
Swapnil Bhosale, Deputy RTO, Pune, said, “The highest preference is given to two-wheelers, which is indicated by a rise of 2,229 this year. As many as 4,221 two-wheelers were purchased last year on this day. This year, 6,510 two-wheelers have been purchased on Gudi Padwa, followed by four-wheelers and commercial vehicles. Thus, 98 more four-wheelers and 272 more commercial vehicles have been purchased this year as compared to last year.”
