11 pc rise in number of passengers from Pune Airport, over 30,000 passengers travel daily

Pune: The summer season slots have been made available from the Pune International Airport. However, new destinations have not been added. As many as 104 flights are available daily as compared to last year’s 109.
The highest number of flights are Delhi-bound. Over 20 take-offs take place daily from Pune to Delhi. The second highest number of flights (15) are Bengaluru-bound. An equal number of arrivals are from Bengaluru to Pune. Since both cities are IT hubs, official travel has increased between the two cities.
Airliners have been asked to make the best of slots made available to them by the Airport Authority. This will provide relief to passengers.
Pune Airport Director Santosh Doke said, “As many as 109 slots have been made available at the Pune Airport in the summer season. This will be convenient for passengers. They can fly to three international and 36 domestic destinations from Pune. This is going to benefit air travellers.”
Flights to 36 destinations from Pune
Air travel is available to 39 cities from Pune. They include three international destinations – Dubai, Singapore and Bangkok. Two flights operate to Dubai. During the winter season, it was expected that flights would increase to domestic and international destinations but the number remained static.
