11 Pune candidates demand recounting of votes, apply for EVM verification
Pune: Many candidates and parties have expressed doubts about the functioning of EVMs in the State Assembly elections. They have demanded a thorough examination of the machines.
As many as 11 candidates from the district have paid the required fees, along with an application, for recounting of votes. Rs 47,000, including GST, have been paid for each EVM verification.
These candidates included NCP (SP) Hadapsar candidate Prashant Jagtap, NCP (SP) Shirur candidate Ashok Pawar, Congress Pune Cantonment candidate Ramesh Bagwe and NCP (SP) Khadakwasla candidate Sachin Dodke.
The candidates have doubts about the number of votes counted and the actual number of votes cast at voting centres. Therefore, they have applied for five per cent of the total number of voting centres or EVMs for verification.
