Pune: Eleven years ago, a tragic incident of robbery and murder occurred on Kumthekar Road in Pune’s Sadashiv Peth area. This bustling and congested location remains the backdrop for an unresolved crime. The killers of Asha Narayan Lagad, a 72-year-old woman, are still at large, and the investigation remains incomplete.

Asha Narayan Lagad, the owner of Lakshmi Niwas building at Phadtare Chowk, Kumthekar Road, was murdered in 2013. She lived alone on the first floor of the building, while the upper floors were rented out. Her two children resided in nearby houses.

How Was Asha Lagad Killed?

On June 3, 2013, Asha Lagad returned home from Alandi around 4:30 PM. After having tea, she was found unconscious on her bed at around 5:30 PM by neighbors who informed her family. Her grandson initially thought she had a stroke, but doctors declared her dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The family reported that cash and jewelry worth around Rs 2 lakh were stolen. A complaint was registered at Vishrambaug Police Station, shaking Pune with the bold daylight murder.
