20 lakh applications approved, 10,000 found invalid under Ladki Bahin Yojana in Pune district
Pune: Scrutiny of beneficiaries is being done under the Mukhyamantri Mazi Ladki Bahin Yojana in the State. Many unqualified women returned the money they received under the scheme earlier. The scrutiny process has been going on continuously and action has been taken against unqualified beneficiaries, said the State Women and Child Development Commissioner.
As many as 10,000 applications have been found invalid. Of the total number of applications, 69,175 still remain to be checked for their linkage with the Aadhaar card. In all, 20,84,364 women benefited under the scheme in the district till date.
Over 2.52 crore applications were approved across the State before the Model Code of Conduct came into effect. In Pune district, over 20.48 lakh applications were approved. October 15 was the last date of application. The poll code was implemented from October 16. Therefore, the application scrutiny and approval were pending. Over one lakh applications could not be processed due to the Model Code of Conduct.
As the poll code ended, the district administration scrutinised pending applications and found 9,814 invalid due to various anomalies. Moreover, 5,724 applications were temporarily rejected for minor lacunae. They were given an opportunity to correct mistakes.
Of the total pending applications, 12,000 still need to be scrutinised. That means around 99.43 pc applications have been scrutinised till date. Of the scrutinised applications, 69,175 Aadhaar cards are still to be seeded with their respective bank accounts.
