250 more NCP (AP) office-bearers resign in Pune

Pune: Many trusted lieutenants of NCP (AP) President and DyCM Ajit Pawar have started leaving him in the backdrop of the State Assembly elections.
Office-bearers from Pune had demanded that City Unit President Deepak Mankar should be named as a Governor-appointed MLC. However, the party leadership ignored him. Consequently, 600 office-bearers from the city quit their posts immediately.
Office-bearers are not happy with the party’s decision to not name Mankar as an MLC. Now, 250 more office-bearers quit. This took the tally of such office-bearers to 850. The number is likely to grow by Saturday.
Speaking to the media, Deepak Mankar said, “We honestly built the party organisation after a vertical split in the party last year. We had a jumbo executive council of 1,600 office-bearers. We reached out to the masses by conducting thousands of programmes. In this backdrop, workers feel dejected as the party has not given them an opportunity to grow. If the party empowers me, workers will also feel empowered. But the party has forgotten this.”
