Pune: Changing parties has picked speed as the civic elections are a few months away. An initial exodus is from the Shiv Sena (UBT). Many office-bearers are joining the ruling Shiv Sena (BT).
Following a big breach in the Uddhav camp in Mumbai, office-bearers from Pune are ready to switch sides. Around 500 shiv sainiks, including branch and area heads are going to join the Shinde faction.
MP Sanjay Raut recently visited Pune. Many office-bearers expressed their displeasure. Around 500 party workers would join the Shinde camp on Tuesday (January 28). They will join in a function at Balasaheb Bhavan in Mumbai. Pune Shiv Sena (BT) President Nana Bhangire and party leader Bharat Gogawale will be present. Some Shiv Sena (UBT) corporators will follow suit at a public rally, to be addressed by DyCM Eknath Shinde, in Saswad on January 31.
It is to be noted that after two visits to the city by Sanjay Raut in the past two months, many office-bearers left the party. Five former corporators joined the BJP after Raut’s first tour.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) former corporator in Mumbai Rajul Patel, along with numerous workers from Mumbai, Nashik, Kolhapur, Jalgaon and Sangli entered the Shinde camp on Monday. They included Vile Parle branch head Sunil Bhagde, office-bearers from Worli Suresh Kothekar and Roshan Pawaskar and 40 others and 50 workers, shiv sainiks from Shivaji Nagar, Mankhurd, Ashok Lokhande from North-Central area and 20 office-bearers.
