Accelerate the Infrastructure, communication and economic development projects in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region – Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde

Mumbai :- Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde today directed to accelerate the projects related to infrastructural facilities, communication and projects of economic development in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region during the 158th meeting of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), conducted under his chairmanship.

The Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde also accorded approval for appointment of an advisor for the Back Bay Reclamation Scheme (BBRS) model development plan, Badlapur to Virar- Alibaug multi modal corridor access control highway and other topics.

He also directed to complete the development works worth rupees two and a half lakh crore through the medium of MMRDA within the time- bound period.

Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, additional chief secretary of the Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, principal secretary of the Chief Minister Brijesh Singh, commissioner of the Mumbai municipal corporation Bhushan Gagrani, principal secretary of the urban development department Aseem Gupta, Metropolitan commissioner of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority Sanjay Mukherjee and others were also present during the meeting held at the Sahyadri guest house, here.

The revised development plan for the Back Bay Reclamation scheme was today presented during the meeting. This new draft divides the commercial and residential areas with special concentration on natural features like beaches and mangrove areas. A Marina tourism project that will have a special harbor for small boats at yachts is included to give a boost to tourism in this region. The amended plan was given a green signal and approval was granted to publish it and invite suggestions from the citizens.

The meeting also gave its approval to the design of the Badlapur to Virar- Alibaug Multimodal corridor access control highway project prepared by the advisor for connecting Kalyan, Dombivli, Ulhasnagar, Amarnath and Badlapur cities directly with Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The meeting also gave its nod for appointing the advisor to prepare a detailed project report of the Multi model corridor project.

Approval was also accorded in the meeting to provide a plot in the G- Block of Bandra- Kurla Complex (BKC) for the office of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

The Mumbai Metropolitan Development Authority (MMRDA) has been appointed as the ‘Project Implementing Authority’ to implement the economic master plan prepared by the state government at the NITI Aayog, jointly. Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee made the presentation.
