After Mutton Party Incident, Pune Police Tighten Grip on Gaja Marne; 8 Luxury Vehicles Seized Including 2 Fortuners

Pune : Following action taken against the controversial mutton party held at Kanse Dhaba in Satara while transporting notorious gangster Gaja Marne to Sangli jail, Pune Police have delivered another major blow to him. Four luxury vehicles, which were trailing the police van carrying Marne, have been seized. Earlier, police had already impounded four vehicles, including two Fortuners, in connection with an assault case in Kothrud.
In the Kothrud incident, where an IT engineer was attacked, Pune Police had booked Gaja Marne and six others under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). After being remanded to judicial custody, Marne was being taken to Sangli jail. During transit, Assistant Police Inspector and others on escort duty allegedly informed Marne’s supporters about his route, leading to multiple vehicles following the police van.
While stopping for a meal at Kanse Dhaba, Marne was reportedly visited by gang members from Pune, Satara, and Sangli. A mutton party was organized for him. After receiving intelligence about the gathering, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar ordered a probe. Based on CCTV footage, police have registered fresh criminal cases.
According to investigating officer ACP Ganesh Ingle, CCTV footage revealed that 6–7 vehicles were following the police van. Out of those, 4 four-wheelers have now been seized, and efforts are ongoing to locate the others.
In total, 8 vehicles have been impounded so far including 4 from the Kothrud assault case (with 2 Fortuners) and 4 from the recent police van pursuit. The investigation continues.
