Auto Driver Blocks Woman’s Uber Ride in Pune, Threatens Driver Over App-Based Transport
Pune: A concerning incident took place in Hadapsar, Pune, where a woman and her Uber auto driver were reportedly harassed by a local auto rickshaw driver opposing the growing presence of app-based transport services in the city.
The woman, who does not drive and depends on Uber for picking up and dropping off her daughter from school, had booked an Uber auto as part of her routine. As the vehicle arrived at the lobby of her residential society, an unidentified local auto rickshaw abruptly blocked its path.
The rickshaw driver demanded that the woman cancel her Uber ride and step out. When the Uber driver refused to comply, the man grew aggressive and threatened that he would not allow the trip to proceed. The incident has raised fresh concerns over the safety of passengers and the tension between traditional and app-based transport services.
