Bandh call given by Maha Vikas Aghadi is illegal, act against violators: Bombay High Court
Mumbai: The Bombay High Court (HC) has ruled that the ‘Maharashtra Bandh’ call given by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Saturday (August 24) is illegal. The HC has directed the State Government to act against those violating this order.
The MVA has given a call for the bandh to condemn the sexual abuse of two minor girls at a school in Badlapur in Thane district. Adv Gunratna Sadavarte and Subhash Zha filed a petition against the bandh in the HC.
The petition was heard before a bench comprising Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Amit Borkar. The bench said that the State Government would take steps to stop the bandh and added, “We are prohibiting any political party or politician from appealing to participate in the bandh. No party has the right to call for a bandh. Any such bandh is illegal. The State Government should act against violators of the order.”
