Baramati: The second season of Baramati Power Marathon (BPM) presented by Punit Balan Group (PBG) proved memorable amidst pleasant cold weather during the wee hours, roads lined with green cover, the unforgettable welcome extended to runners at the finish point by the SRPF Band and runner’s finishing the marathon in a record time by witnessing the Baramati Development Pattern.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, MP Sunetra Pawar, Young Entrepreneur and PBG President Punit Balan, Janhavi Punit Balan-Dhariwal, Youth Leader Parth Pawar and Actor Jackky Bhagnani flagged off the marathon at 4 am on Sunday.
The World Athletics Association-recognised and held at the taluka level by adhering to the world norms, the BPM participation is considered a qualification for the world-level marathon such as Comrade Marathon. Therefore, many renowned runners participate in the BPM from across the country. The marathon was organised with the cooperation of PBG for the second consecutive year.
Outstanding organisation, excellent hydration and energy points facilities provided on track, selfie points at various places at the ground, a photo session booth and an atmosphere created by Chinkara branding saw an increasing number of professional and health runners from Baramati and its surrounding areas in the BPM. As many as 2,800 runners took part in the marathon in various categories. The run was held at the Baramati Railway Station ground in five categories.
Prizes were distributed by MP Sunetra Pawar and other dignitaries. Sunetra Pawar said, “It is a challenge to organise a marathon run. Members of the Baramati Sports Foundation successfully faced it by organising it so well.”
Baramati Sports Foundation Founder-President Satish Nanaware said, “Runners’ response to the second season after the successful first season has boosted our enthusiasm.” He thanked Young Entrepreneur Punit Balan and other main sponsors for their support to the BPM.

Wishing success to runners, DyCM Ajit Pawar said, “The field of sports is not an exception as Baramati is developing in all aspects. Competitions like marathons are important for a healthy lifestyle. Punit Balan and his better half Janhavi are always in the forefront to organise such contests. This competition is being held successfully with their cooperation for the second consecutive year.” He congratulated Satish Nanaware and his team for the successful organisation of the BPM.

Winners of Baramati Power Marathon
The marathon was held in three categories: 45 km, 21 km and 10 km. The first three winners, the top five clubs and the top three schools providing participants in a large number were honoured with cash prizes.
42-km men: Winner – Late Chandev, first runner-up – Dayaram Gaikwad, second runner-up – Pankaj Singh
42-km women: Winner – Manisha Joshi, first runner-up – Urmila Bane, second runner-up – Sindhu Umesh
21-km men: Winner – Dhondiba Girdava, first runner-up – Abasaheb Raut, second runner-up – Dr Mayur Farande
21-km women: Winner – Shital Tambe, first runner-up – Shivani Chaurasia, second runner-up – Smita Shinde
10-km men: Winner – Amul Amune, first runner-up – Sujal Sawant, second runner-up – Aryan Pawar
10-km women: Winner – Arti Babar, first runner-up – Sonali Matne, second runner-up – Roshni Nishad
