Satara: Parties are planning strategies for the State Assembly elections. The Maha Yuti and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are still conducting meetings over seat-sharing. In some segments, leaders have indicated that they would rebel against party candidates if denied tickets.

The Maha Yuti may receive a setback in Satara. Shiv Sena (BT) District President Purushottam Jadhav has given clear indications in this regard. He spoke to a TV news channel and said that he may contest from the NCP (SP).

Jadhav said, “We conducted a Jan Samvad Yatra in the Assembly constituency. We found that people are not happy with the sitting MLA. He has grabbed all the posts for his family. Therefore, he is being strongly opposed. I have been supporting CM Eknath Shinde since the beginning. He told me to prepare from the Wai seat and I am prepared now.

“However, Ajit Pawar suddenly entered the Maha Yuti. Therefore, his sitting MLA will get the chance. I wanted to contest the Lok Sabha election but Devendra Fadnavis dissuaded me from contesting. I could have polled over one lakh votes in the Lok Sabha and jeopardised the Maha Yuti candidate. Every time, we are told to hold our horses. Can’t a common man dream of becoming a leader?”

‘If given an opportunity, I will win’

Purushottam Jadhav said, “Satara district is Sharad Pawar’s stronghold. There is a fight between the two NCP camps. Khandala taluka never got the representation in the State Assembly. I have been struggling for the past 22 years. I am not tainted. Therefore, I could be a strong option for them. I am going to fight, I want an opportunity. I will prove my worth if fielded.”
