Lande said in his post: ‘Dear Bihar, I am resigning from my government post after serving for the last 18 years. During my tenure in Bihar, I have always held Bihar supreme over myself and my family. Please forgive me if I have made any mistake during my tenure. I have resigned from the IPS. But I will stay in Bihar. Henceforth, Bihar will be my place of work.”
Electrical engineer becomes IPS officer
Lande was born on August 29, 1976 at Badsingi in Buldhana district. He had a poor family background. He completed his education from a ZP school. Later, he graduated in engineering from the Amravati University through government quota. Later, he worked as a lecturer in Mumbai in many colleges and took the UPSC exam. He is an IPS officer of 2006 batch.
First posting at Jamalpur
After his selection, Lande was posted as a trainee SP in Jamalpur near Munger in Bihar, which was a Naxal-affected area. SP Surendra Babu was killed by Naxals in 2005. Hence, police officials were afraid of joining the posting there. However, Lande won the confidence of local people in his very first posting. He used to meet local people personally and would get their cooperation. This helped in reducing crime. Lande took many direct actions in Bihar, which led to political pressure on him. He was transferred. But the people of Bihar opposed his transfer.
Impressive stint in Maharashtra too
Meanwhile, Lande was posted in Mumbai. He is the son-in-law of Shiv Sena (BT) leader Vijay Shivtare. Lande broke the backbone of drug smugglers in Mumbai during his tenure in the Anti-Narcotics Cell. He also detected many criminal cases while serving as the DCP of the Crime Branch.
