Bikers Assaulted and Robbed by Fake Police, Two Arrested in Pune (Video)

Pune: In a shocking incident, a group of five individuals posing as police officers allegedly assaulted two bikers and demanded Rs 2 crore from them. The attackers also robbed the victims of jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh, including gold rings and a watch, before abandoning them in Pandharpur. Hinjewadi police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Yogesh Vishwas Sawant (34), a resident of Raut Nagar, Akluj, and Dyaneshwar Vilas Ghadge (26), a resident of Khandali, Taluka Malshiras, District Solapur. Three of their accomplices are still at large, and a case has been registered against them.

According to the police, the complainant, Shubham Yashwant Kulkarni (21), a resident of Gaikwad Nagar, Punawale, reported the incident that took place on August 29 at 4:30 pm between Jambe village and Pandharpur. Kulkarni and his friend, Abhyuday Chaudhary, were travelling on a motorcycle when a group of five men in two cars, a red Swift and a white car, intercepted them.

The attackers forced Kulkarni and Chaudhary into their car, falsely claimed to be police officers, and even showed fake police ID cards. They then demanded Rs 2 crore from the victims. Additionally, they forcibly took two gold rings worth Rs 50,000, a 25-gram gold chain worth Rs 1.25 lakh, and an Apple watch valued at Rs 15,000 from Kulkarni.

The victims were beaten and held overnight in an undisclosed location before being abandoned in Pandharpur the next day. Upon returning to Pune, Kulkarni lodged a complaint at Hinjewadi Police Station, leading to the arrest of Sawant and Ghadge. The investigation, led by Assistant Police Inspector Jadhav, is ongoing to track down the remaining suspects.
