BJP central leadership is in favour of a Maratha face as Chief Minister; Eknath Shinde has better chance
Pune: The BJP leadership is positive about having a Maratha face for the Chief Minister’s post. Therefore, Eknath Shinde has a better chance to become the CM again.
Sources said that the Maha Yuti had the biggest ever win under the leadership of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The Maratha community voted for the Maha Yuti overwhelmingly, which proved decisive. Therefore, the BJP central leadership in Delhi is of the view that a Maratha face should be named as the CM.
Eknath Shinde tackled the Maratha reservation issue tactfully when the agitation was at its peak in the State. The Marathas voted for the alliance by trusting CM Eknath Shinde. Maha Yuti candidates were elected from all regions of the State, for which credit should go to Shinde. Such discussions are underway among political circles.
Eknath Shinde’s name is in the forefront as the most popular Maratha leader. His tenure of 2.5 years as the CM was also popular. Hence, the BJP leadership is most likely to name him as the next Chief Minister, said the sources.
The entire country is eager to know the name of the new CM as Maharashtra is one of the leading states. It is puzzling that the Maha Yuti is still unable to decide the CM face even after getting a massive mandate.
If the BJP leadership feels that a Maratha face should become the CM, then Eknath Shinde would occupy the post again.
