Mumbai: The two major alliances in the State, the Maha Yuti and the Maha Vikas Aghadi, are bracing for the State Assembly elections. However, seat-sharing talks have not started yet and every alliance partner is readying its plan for the exercise.

Senior state BJP leaders held their core committee meeting, in which they were of the view that the party should contest 150 seats.

The panel discussed the strategy for the elections and the seat-sharing with alliance partners. The senior BJP leaders expressed their opinion that the party should field candidates from 150 seats.

Candidates will be selected assembly segment-wise on the basis of votes polled in their constituency in the last Lok Sabha elections and the votes they garnered in the State Assembly poll in 2019.

It was learnt that the parties would retain the seats they won in the last elections. There would be changes in a few cases. The Maha Yuti will choose a candidate who could win on the basis of the survey and the Lok Sabha results.

Devendra Fadnavis has been entrusted with the task of finalising the seat-sharing deal.
