BJP Faces Internal Competition for Pune Assembly Seats; Bawankule Urges Unity Among Aspirants

Pune:
As the state gears up for the upcoming assembly elections, political parties across the state are intensifying their preparations. The ruling BJP is no exception, as it mobilises its forces for the upcoming election. However, in Pune city, the party is grappling with internal competition, where multiple candidates are vying for the party’s ticket in several assembly constituencies.
In response to this challenge, BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule recently held a meeting with the aspirants. The meeting was called after a message from the BJP’s city office invited all interested candidates to present their case to the party leadership. Bawankule listened to their views and offered guidance on the way forward.
During the meeting, candidates who previously held positions as corporators shared their contributions and achievements with Bawankule, outlining why they believe they are the most suitable choice for the party’s nomination. The aspirants urged Bawankule to consider their candidature for the legislative assembly this time, requesting an opportunity to represent the party.
Addressing the candidates, Bawankule acknowledged their commitment and stated, “The party has heard your opinions regarding the assembly elections, and your inputs will be conveyed to the senior leadership.” He emphasised, however, that unity is essential, saying, “No matter who the party nominates, it is crucial that everyone works together in support of the chosen candidate.” He also advised the aspirants to maintain a collective focus on the party’s success and not to think differently.
