Deadlock in Maha Vikas Aghadi continues in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri: The Maha Yuti has announced its candidates in Pimpri, Chinchwad and Bhosari. But the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has still not decided which seat would go to which alliance partner. The NCP (SP) and the Shiv Sena (UBT) are at a tug of war.
As the deadlock in the MVA continues, aspirants have become restless. They are visiting Pune and Mumbai frequently to get their candidature confirmed. It is predicted that there would be friendly fights in these segments.
The filing of nominations started five days ago. But the MVA has still not decided their candidates. The rival alliance has taken the lead by announcing the names of their candidates. NCP (AP) MLA Anna Bansode from Pimpri, BJP’s Shankar Jagtap from Chinchwad and BJP MLA Mahesh Landge from Bhosari are the Maha Yuti candidates. They have already started campaigning.
The MVA constituents have published their first lists. But they do not include a single seat from Pimpri-Chinchwad. The Congress is not likely to get any segment. The NCP (SP) has claimed all three seats while the Shiv Sena (UBT) wants Pimpri and Bhosari.
The NCP (SP) is not willing to give up Pimpri, where former corporator Sulakshana Shilwant’s name has almost been finalised. But there is a demand that an aggressive and capable candidate should take on NCP (AP) MLA Anna Bansode.
Some disgruntled former NCP (AP) corporators met NCP (SP) State President Jayant Patil on Thursday (October 24) night. They sought the party’s ticket for former BJP corporator Seema Savale. The party is in a dilemma now.
In Chinchwad, Rahul Kalate, Nana Kate and Chandrakant Nakhate are the aspirants. They have assured Sharad Pawar that they would work for the candidate given by the party. But the MVA has still not decided who would get the segment.
Similarly, the Bhosari seat is also a bone of contention. The aspirant from the NCP (SP) is Ajit Gavhane, who left the NCP (AP) recently while the Shiv Sena (UBT) aspirant is Ravi Landge, who left the BJP. Both are adamant that they want to contest from Bhosari.
Gavhane, along with a large group of former corporators, met Jayant Patil. Sources said that the MVA partners are trying to break the logjam. If they do not succeed, then a friendly contest in one of the three seats is unavoidable.
