Devendra Fadnavis has framed Vinod Tawde: Sushma Andhare
Mumbai: BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde and the local BJP candidate were booked for distribution of money in Virar in a hotel. The Election Commission lodged a complaint against them.
The incident came to light after Bahujan Vikas Aghadi President Hitendra Thakur and his followers gheraoed the hotel for over four hours. They alleged that Tawde distributed Rs 5 crore. Later, Rs 9 lakh cash was found in a bag.
Tawde refuted the allegation. However, a case was registered against him for the violation of poll code. Thakur dropped a bombshell by saying that a friend from the BJP tipped him off about the money-distribution. This gave rise to discussions that Tawde was framed. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare named DyCM Devendra Fadnavis for the incident.
Andhare teased Fadnavis. She said, “The BJP’s ‘note jihad’ ridiculed (Vinod) Tawde. A Maratha leader has been decimated. Devendra Ji, you must be happy now?”
MVA leaders grilled BJP leaders over the incident. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said, “The State Home Ministry was snooping on Tawde, who has good relations with Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. He could have become a tough competitor for Fadnavis in the future. Out of the fear, the action was taken. Tawde has been fabricated in a very systematic manner. An attempt has been made to destroy the career of a leader of the masses.”
Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala demanded Tawde’s arrest. He said that the BJP had accepted its defeat and therefore, distributed money. However, Vinod Tawde refuted the allegations.
