DRI Pune Seizes 10.3 Kg of Hydroponic Weed Worth ₹10.3 Crore, 3 Arrested

Pune : In a major drug bust, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Pune, Mumbai Zonal Unit, intercepted two passengers arriving from Bangkok at Pune Airport on May 12, 2025, based on specific intelligence inputs.
Upon examination of their checked-in baggage, officers discovered 11 airtight pouches containing 9,864 grams of a greenish, lumpy substance suspected to be hydroponic weed. The substance tested positive for cannabis using a field test kit.
In a simultaneous follow-up operation in Mumbai, DRI officials apprehended one of the intended recipients of the consignment. A search of his premises led to the recovery of an additional 478 grams of narcotics, including hashish and hydroponic weed.
In total, 10.3 kg of narcotic substances, with an estimated illicit market value of ₹10.3 crore, were seized. All three individuals involved have been arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Further investigation into the international and domestic links of the drug network is currently underway.
