Finally, Pune-Ahmednagar Road will be freed from BRT

Pune: Removal of the BRT lanes, which were causing traffic congestion and accidents on the Pune-Ahmednagar Road, started late on Saturday (April 12). The actual work was started in areas such as Somnath Nagar Chowk, Kharadi Bypass and Aple Ghar.
The decision will provide relief for commuters from traffic congestion. MLA Bapusaheb Pathare followed up with the civic administration to address issues caused by the BRTS and raised his voice against the system in the State Legislative Assembly. Moreover, former MLA Anil Tingre also conveyed the issue to DyCM Ajit Pawar, who issued instructions to the administration.
Local residents demanded removal of the BRTS. The decision to remove the BRT was made in a high-level meeting of the PMC last week. Commuters will now be able to take a U-turn as per the recommendation made in the meeting.
The decision has provided relief for residents on Pune-Nagar Road, commuters and businessmen. It is expected that there will be drastic reduction in the number of accidents and traffic congestion on the thoroughfare. Citizens have welcomed the decision.
