Former Solapur Mayor Mahesh Kothe dies of heart attack in Kumbh Mela

Solapur: Former Solapur Mayor Mahesh Kothe died of a heart attack. He was on a visit to Prayagraj on the occasion of Kumbh Mela, where he breathed his last.
Kothe was a heavyweight leader of the NCP (SP) from Solapur. He recently contested the State Assembly Poll from the Solapur North segment.
According to the details received, Kothe, along with his friends, was visiting Prayagraj to participate in the religious gathering. He took a holy dip in the Ganga river and immediately suffered a heart attack due to severe cold weather conditions. He was rushed to hospital but was declared dead before admission.
Mahesh Kothe was the son of Vishnupant Kothe. Both were close associates of former Union Minister Sushilkumar Shinde. The Kothe father-son duo played a crucial role in strengthening the Congress in the city and establishing the party rule in the civic body.
Later, Mahesh Kothe joined the Shiv Sena, which he eventually left to join the NCP (SP). He became the Mayor in the Solapur Municipal Corporation. He was known as a strong leader across the State. Citizens are mourning the loss of a good leader.
