Grand immersion procession of five-day Ganeshotsav concludes in Kashmir (Video)
Pune: The five-day Ganesh Festival in Kashmir concluded on Wednesday with a grand immersion procession. People bid farewell to Bappa with a heavy heart.
Besides religious ceremonies, many other initiatives were launched during the festival. Local residents of Kashmir participated in it with enthusiasm. Ganeshotsav was not celebrated in the valley for the past 34 years. In this backdrop, Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganapati Trust Celebration Chief and Trustee Punit Balan took the lead and started the festival in Kashmir. The seven leading Ganesh mandals (Manache Ganpati) joined hands and installed the idol in Lal Chowk last year. This year, a five-day festival was organised in Kupwara and Anantnag also, for which the grand immersion procession took place on Wednesday.
The first procession started from Ganpatyar Mandir to Haba Kadal up to the Jhelum river while the second one took place from Ves KP Colony to Sangam in Anantnag, an 11-km distance. Local musical instruments were played in both processions. Local Kashmiri residents participated in them with enthusiasm.
Sweet Naivedya for Bappa
The special feature of the Kashmiri Ganesh Festival is ‘Panna Puja’. A sweet offering is made to Bappa. The puja is a symbol of social harmony and integrity.
