Highest Rainfall Recorded in Lonavala: 275 mm in 24 Hours
Lonavala: On Tuesday, July 23, Lonavala recorded its highest rainfall of the year, with an impressive 275 millimeters of rain in just 24 hours. The city has been experiencing heavy rainfall since June, with a significant increase from Thursday, July 18.
Rainfall has continued for eight consecutive days, with heavy showers starting on Tuesday morning and continuing through the night, accompanied by strong winds. As of today, Lonavala has received 2601 mm of rainfall this year, surpassing last year’s 2503 mm recorded by this date. Authorities warn that the rain is expected to persist into Wednesday, and citizens should remain cautious.

Streams are overflowing, and the water level of the Indrayani river has risen significantly. In the areas of Karla, Malwali, and Sadapur, the river’s water has spread into surrounding regions. Citizens traveling from Deole to Malvali are facing about one and a half to two feet of water on the road, making it necessary to wade through the water.
