Hindu Garjana Chashak State-level Wrestling Contests in Pune from February 7 to 9 (Video)

Pune: The Hindu Garjana Chashak Women’s and Men’s State-level Wrestling Competitions 2025, jointly organised by the Hindu Garjana Pratishthan and Punit Balan Group (PBG), will be held from February 7 to 9. Prizes amounting to Rs 45 lakh will be given to winners while the open winner will get a Mahindra Thar SUV, a silver mace and a cash prize of Rs 2.51 lakh.
PBG President Punit Balan and Hindu Garjana Pratishthan President Dheeraj Ramchandra Ghate gave the details about the contests in a press conference.
The competitions will be organised in cooperation with the Shikshan Prasarak Mandali and has been recognised by the Maharashtra Rajya Kustigir Sangh and the Pune Zilha Kustigir Sangh.
The bouts will be played at the SP College Ground on Tilak Road. The competitions will consist of the open category for the state-level men and women and other categories for the Pune city and district-level junior wrestlers.
The winner in the open category men will receive a Mahindra Thar SUV, a silver mace, Rs 2.51 lakh and a memento. The first runner-up will get Rs 1.51 lakh and a memento while the second runner-up will be given Rs 1.51 lakh. The winner in the open category women will receive Rs 2.51 lakh, an e-bike and a silver mace. The first runner-up will get a cup and Rs 1.51 lakh while the second runner-up will get Rs 1 lakh.
The junior category bouts will be played by wrestlers from the city and district. The winner will get a silver mace and Rs 1 lakh, the first runner-up will get Rs 50,000 and a cup while the second runner-up will have Rs 25,000 and a cup. Moreover, the winners from the under-17 and under-14 categories will be given a bicycle each and cash prizes.
The tournaments will be inaugurated by DyCM Ajit Pawar. State Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil and State Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Dattatraya Bharne will grace the occasion.
The prize distribution will be done by other dignitaries. A show bout between Irani wrestlers Mirza and Ali will be held. Many Hind Kesari and Maharashtra Kesari title holders will be present and they will be felicitated.
There will be two separate mud wrestling arenas and sitting arrangements for 10,000 spectators on the SP College Ground. A massive parking space will be available. Participating wrestlers will get the lodging and boarding facilities.
Dheeraj Ghate and Punit Balan said that the competitions would be on par with the Maharashtra Kesari contest. Noted sportspersons, artists, social workers and dignitaries from politics would witness bouts. They appealed to the Puneites to experience the thrill of mud wrestling.
