In our day-to-day life, many people often complained about the rude and impudent behaviour of rickshaw drivers. However, in a completely opposite incident in Swargate, an honest rickshaw driver has returned a bag of a woman passenger containing eight and a half tolas of gold. After the incident, the rickshaw driver is being praised by people and police for his honesty.

The rickshaw driver’s name is Rajabhau Chandrakant Raskar. As per the police information, Rajabhau was taking one of his woman passengers from Panmala to Swargate on Tuesday morning (December 10) around 8 a.m. While getting off the rickshaw, the woman passenger forgot to take her bag. The rickshaw driver noticed it after the rickshaw reached the Sadashiv Peth area.

After that, the rickshaw driver immediately went to the Swargate Police Station. Meanwhile, a woman passenger had filed a complaint at the Swargate police station about the bag being lost. The police then called a woman and later informed the rickshaw driver that the bag was containing eight and a half tolas of gold.

After the woman checked all her belongings in the bag, the bag and all the belongings in it were handed over to the female passenger. However, in appreciation of the rickshaw driver’s honesty, Raskar was honoured by the Swargate Police by giving him a shawl and a shriphal. At this time, Police Sub-Inspector of Swargate (Nehru Stadium) Police Station Balu Popat Sirsat, Police Ammaldar Amol Kate, and Prabhakar Sonawane were present.

While speaking about it, rickshaw driver Rajabhau Raskar said, “We have been taught in this profession to not touch anyone’s belongings. Accordingly, I did not even know what was in that bag. When I saw that passenger forgot her bag in the rickshaw, I went to the Swargate police station with the intention of returning it. However, after going there, I found out that it contained eight and a half tolas of gold. The police have also honoured me for this and set a precedent. So I am happy to receive recognition for good work.”
