Pune : M | O | C Cancer Care and Research Centre, an organization that aims to empower cancer patients in their fight against cancer, by simplifying their treatment journey; inaugurated their new community cancer centre at Kalyani Nagar, Pune.

While speaking to our correspondents, their cancer physicians Dr Tushar Patil and Dr Reshma Puranik said that incidence of cancer in Pune city and district are rising rapidly and most of them depend upon either of government or private cancer hospitals for their treatment. They further said that both these institutions have their own limitations, i.e. high density of patients at government hospitals leading to higher waiting time, possible delays in the treatment and lack of personal attention as against high cost of treatment at private hospitals to buy treatment, comfort and attention. In such a situation, community cancer centres become a perfect alternative for patients where they can get accurate diagnosis, right treatment, near their homes and most importantly- at an affordable cost.

“M | O | C Kalyani Nagar is a 30 bedded cancer treatment facility which has semi-ICU backup; We will have empanelment of all the private medical insurers and that of Pune Mahanagar Corporation for their health scheme”; said Dr Ashwin Rajbhoj and Dr Asma Pathan- M | O | C’s cancer physicians at Kalyani Nagar

The new facility at Kalyani Nagar is M | O | C’s 4th community cancer centre after those at Shivaji Nagar, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Swargate.

Over 90% of cancer patients need chemotherapy in their journey and it is the expensive part of their whole treatment. Chemotherapy cost is recurrent at the sane time catastrophic in nature. Under such circumstances, community cancer centres are good options for patients in the interest of their treatment and cost saving.
