Kasba MLA Hemant Rasane Speaks with Pune Police Commissioner Over Helmet Enforcement Confusion; Clarify, No Helmet Compulsion for Central Pune

For the past two days, there has been discussion in Pune city that helmets will be made mandatory for bike riders and passengers, which has created unnecessary confusion among citizens. Meanwhile, Kasba MLA Hemant Rasane has spoken on this issue with Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. He told people that no such orders have been issued by the Pune Police, and it will not affect the citizens of the central part of Pune city.
While speaking on the issue, MLA Rasane said that no such orders have been issued by the Pune Police, but orders for helmet compulsion have been issued from the senior level while travelling on highways. He said that the Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar had told him that this will not affect the citizens of the central area of Pune city and no action will be taken against citizens in this regard.
In Pune city, news has been circulating for the past two days that two-wheeler riders and their passengers should also wear helmets; otherwise, action will be taken against them by the police. This has created confusion among the citizens of the central area of Pune city. Against this backdrop, Kasba constituency MLA Hemant Rasane contacted Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and discussed the matter. The Commissioner said that this order has been issued for two-wheeler riders and passengers on highways as the number of accidents is increasing day by day.
Speaking about this, MLA Rasane said, “For the last two days, there has been discussion of helmet enforcement in Pune city, and there are reports that the co-passenger must also wear a helmet. This has created confusion among the citizens of the central area, and many people have called me and asked about it. However, after contacting Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar about this, he has said that these orders are for highways and will not affect the citizens of the central area. Therefore, citizens do not need to panic.”
At this time, Rasane also advised people to follow traffic rules for safety. He said, “Traffic rules are for our safety. So, everyone should follow them while driving on highways.”
