Kirtankar Chaitanya Wadekar Maharaj accuses police of harassing innocent people

Chakan: Young Kirtankar Chaitanya Wadekar Maharaj has condemned the Chakan Police for allegedly detaining his brother, working in the design field, from his institute’s office without any intimation. They reportedly threatened him, snatched his mobile phone and whisked him away to the police station on a two-wheeler. The police neither had a complaint against him nor the name of the complainant.

Wadekar Maharaj’s brother runs his business ‘Sayaji Design’ in Chakan. The Chakan Police detained Pramod Wadekar on July 29 while he was conducting a class. He was taken to the police station. Wadekar Maharaj went to the police station and found that there was neither any complaint against his brother nor a complainant.

He said that the policeman concerned told him that they did not know the detained person was his brother and went away. Later, he lodged a complaint against a police officer and three police persons.

When contacted, the Chakan Police said that some students had complained to them about the education and threats issued to them at the institute. Hence, some police personnel visited it out of a misunderstanding.

Meanwhile, citizens alleged that they are losing confidence in the police, who have the responsibility to protect law-abiding citizens.
