Light showers likely after Christmas in Pune: IMD
Pune: Cold weather conditions receded in the past couple of days in Pune. But light rainfall may occur after December 25, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Cloudy weather prevailed for the past couple of days in the city. Weather is conducive for rainfall in the State. The lowest minimum temperature dropped down to 6 degrees Celsius this season. A cold wave swept the State. Moist-laden winds were blowing from the South. Thus, chilly winds from the North were blocked.
This would result in cloudy weather and rainfall from Thursday to Saturday. Rains would be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, said the met office.
Barring Konkan, heavy rainfall is predicted in Central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha. A low-pressure belt was formed from south-east and central-east of Bay of Bengal to Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu coast. Its intensity was intact on Tuesday.
