Mumbai: The Maha Yuti has started preparing for the State Assembly elections in a big way. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Nagpur, Vidarbha on September 23.

While the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will hold meetings region-wise on September 23-24, the BJP will conduct an assembly constituency-wise review and will finalise the ticket-distribution formula.

The State Assembly elections will be held in the first fortnight of November. The model code of conduct will come into effect after Dasara, it was learnt. It means candidates will get only 15-18 days to prepare for the polls.

In this backdrop, the Maha Yuti is consistently focusing on constituency-wise meetings. It is learnt that a consensus has been reached on 80 pc of seats while the remaining seats will be decided in a week. A new government will be formed in the State before November 28. A very short period will be available for the campaign.

Strategies will be decided depending on who declares candidates first, Maha Yuti or the Maha Vikas Aghadi.

The Maha Yuti could not match the narrative of the opposition, which harped on changing of the Constitution in the Lok Sabha elections. In fact, the Maha Yuti was confident about the Modi government’s return to power, which adversely affected the ruling alliance. The Maha Yuti leaders have now realised this and will give a befitting reply to the opposition’s campaign in the State Assembly polls.
