Maharashtra Budget 2025: Ajit Pawar Announces Expansion of Pune Metro in Phase 2, Proposes Rs 9,897 Crore for Metro Phase 2

Today, on March 10, the state budget is being presented, with the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar presenting the state budget for the eleventh time.

While presenting the state budget today, Finance Minister Ajit Pawar announced significant developments in Pune Metro’s expansion. He informed that the metro network, which currently serves Pune’s central areas, will now extend to surrounding regions under its second phase.

Highlighting key infrastructure projects in the state budget, Ajit Pawar stated that the central government has approved the Swargate-Katraj Metro Extension Line. Additionally, a proposal worth Rs 9,897 crore has been submitted to the Centre for approval of two new metro routes in the city—Swargate-Hadapsar-Kharadi and Nal Stop-Warje-Manik Baug.

The proposed expansion aims to enhance urban connectivity and ease congestion in the city’s growing suburbs.
