Maharashtra Journalists Welfare Fund’s 32nd State-level ‘Darpan’ awards to be distributed at Pombhurle on January 6
Phaltan: The Maharashtra Journalists Welfare Fund’s prestigious 32nd State-level ‘Darpan’ awards will be distributed by State Fisheries and Ports Development Minister Nitesh Rane, former State PWD Minister MLA Ravindra Chavan and Senior Journalist and ‘Lokmat’ Group Editor Vijay Baviskar at 10.30 am on Monday, January 6, in the ‘Darpan’ Auditorium at Pombhurle, taluka – Devgad, district – Sindhudurg.
Ratnagiri-based senior journalist Rajabhau Limaye will be the Chief Guest while Fund President Ravindra Bedkihal will preside over the function. This was revealed by Fund Executive Trustee Vijay Mandke in a press release.
Giving details about the programme, Vijay Mandke said, “Tributes are paid to the pioneer in Marathi journalism, Balshastri Jambhekar, and the ‘Darpan’ awards are distributed annually by the Maharashtra Journalists Welfare Fund, in cooperation with the Pombhurle-Jambhe-Deoolwadi Villagers and the Jambhekar Family on the occasion of state-level ‘Journalists’ Day.
“This is the 32nd year of the awards and the awards for 2024 will be distributed in the function. The awardees include Shrikant Rambhau Sable (Editor, Punyanagari, Pune), Dipak s Shinde (Editor, Lokmat, Satara), Navnath Kutal (Correspondent, Divya Marathi, Shrirampur), Vimal Vitthalrao Nalawade (Editor, Dhansantosh, Koregaon, dist – Satara), Adv Rohit Shamrao Ahiwale (Editor, Gandhvarta, Phaltan), Yashwant Bhimrao Khalate-Patil (Correspondent, Punyanagari, Phaltan), Acharya Balshastri Jambhekar Women ‘Darpan’ Award winner Shobhana Kamble (Sr Sub-Editor, Lokmat, Ratnagiri), Sr Journalist Shakarrao Patil (Karad)-sponsored state-level ‘Brave Journalist’ award winner Dr Pramod Shrirang Farande (Sr Sub-Editor, Sakal, Satara), and Acharya Balshastri Jambhekar Darpan Writers’ Award winner Nirmalkumar Suryavanshi (Hadsani, district – Nanded).”
An appeal has been made to journalists, dignitaries from various walks of life, media-savvy citizens from across the State and the Pombhurle villagers that they should remain present for the programme. The appeal has been made by Fund Vice-President Bapusaheb Jadhav and Krishna Shevdikar, Pombhurle Sarpanch Priyanka Dhawde, Deputy Sarpanch Sadiq Dongarkar, and Sudhakar Jambhekar on behalf of the Jambhekar Family.
